Powerful Partnerships High School Scholarships
Scholarship Goals
At NV Energy we are committed to building strong, healthy and diverse communities and we believe that a strong community has an educated and productive workforce at its base.To support attainment of a higher education for our youth, NV Energy is offering our Power Partnership Scholarship Program.
One-time scholarships of $1,000 are awarded based on the program's selection criteria and on the number of applications received.
Application Deadline
High School seniors in public or private high schools or those who are home schooled are encouraged to submit applications before February 29, 2012.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- High school senior, attending school or home schooled, in NV Energy's service territory
- Completed 20 hours of community service within the previous 12 months as validated by school counselor, agency or organization. (Volunteer service may include your work with a nonprofit agency such as a church group, Boy or Girl Scouts, Key Club, etc.)
- Demonstrated academic success with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Please include your advanced placement classes, student clubs and associations such as Debate Club and Student Government, etc.)
- Personal goal of pursuing a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution
In-eligible Applicants
- Relatives on NV Energy employees and retirees (includes children, grandchildren, step-children, etc.)
Application Requirements
- In southern Nevada, complete the Clark County School District Scholarship Application provided by Clark County School District (CCSD) scholarship application.
- in northern Nevada, complete the application provided by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.
- Official high school transcript
- A personal statement outlining career goals and aspirations (you may include a list of your family responsibilities such as child or elder care, etc.)
- An essay explaining why community service is important. (Please keep your word count between 100 and 300 words and include your most memorable volunteer experience.)
- Resumé of community service projects, number of volunteer hours, work experience, school activities, awards and recognition, school/community leadership and academic achievement.

A letter of recommendation from a school official

One to three letters of recommendation from an agency or organization where the student volunteered
The decision of the scholarship committee is final in all matters related to the above practices.
