Recently, the Nevada utility subsidiaries of Sierra Pacific Resources changed their name to NV Energy, but Sierra Pacific Power Company continues doing business in California.
For our 46,000 customers in the Lake Tahoe-area it's business as usual. Your bills and other communications will continue under the same name you've known for years.
While California customers might hear the NV Energy name when making some customer service calls, our phone number remains the same, and the people serving you remain on the job and committed to the highest quality service.
We remain focused on providing each of our customers with safe and reliable electric service at a predictable rate. In making good on this commitment, we are pursuing a three-part energy strategy that emphasizes energy efficiency and conservation, the development of new renewable resources, and adding generation that uses the cleanest available technologies.
Whether you live in California or Nevada, our commitment to you remains constant.
California Only Services
Payment Locations
Pay at our authorized Shop & Pay Payment Locations or at our customer service offices. Payments are always posted the same day and that's a guarantee.
Zero Estimated Billing Brochure
Zero Estimated Billing is a program only for California customers. In our California service territory during severe winter weather in areas inaccessible during the winter months, our meter readers are unable to read the electric meter. As a result, you receive estimated bills. With Zero Estimated Billing, California customers can be billed, only during the winter months, at zero energy use until we can read your meter. Download the brochure for more information.
Time of Use
The Sierra Pacific Time of Use (TOU) rate provides you with a choice. Customers who are willing to use less electricity during periods when the total demand of energy is highest (the peak), will save money by shifting their usage to times with lower rates.
California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE)
Low-income California residents may qualify for a discount on their monthly electric bill through CARE. For more information call toll-free (866) 675-6627.
Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP aka LIHEAP)
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides an annual energy bill payment on behalf of the eligible applicant. The amount of this payment is calculated based on the household size, household income and the amount of the energy bill in relation to the household size and income. Contact the Department of Community Services and Development at (866) 675-6623 for more information.
Low-Income Energy Efficiency Programs (LIEE)
LIEE provides free attic insulation, weather-stripping, pipe insulation, water heater blankets and more. Call Project Go at (800) 655-7705.
Medical Baseline Allowance
This program provides an increase in the baseline allowance, the amount of energy that is charged at the lowest possible rate. If someone in a household has multiple sclerosis, a life-threatening illness, is a paraplegic, quadriplegic, or requires regular use of life-support equipment, they may qualify for this additional allowance of electricity at the lower rate. Both the customer and their doctor must complete a Medical Baseline Application. To learn more, contact your local NV Energy office in North Lake Tahoe, (800) 782-2506 or for all other California locations, (800) 962-4167.
