NVEnergy is now accepting applications from Nevada-based nonprofit agencies to fund weatherization and energy-efficiency retrofit projects to help reduce operational costs from energy consumption.  Examples of effective projects are: Lighting retrofits, installation of lighting controls and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system upgrades, or other measures that reduce electric energy consumption.

To qualify for these grants an agency must be an NVEnergy electric customer in good standing, a 501(c)(3) physically located within the company’s service area (Nevada customers only), and the money must be used to fund energy-efficiency retrofits or weatherization projects.  Grant applications will be rated and awarded based on electrical energy savings.  Improvement projects must be completed by November 16th, 2009.  Agencies will be required to provide a written confirmation upon completion of the funded improvements and a copy of the contractor invoice.

The submission deadline is May 30, 2009.

Individual projects may be funded in full up to $5,000. For grants between $5,000 and $10,000, a 50% matching investment from the nonprofit organization will be required.

Energy experts from the utility company are available to help agencies identify potential energy saving opportunities and cost-effective methods to help reduce their energy costs.  Contact the number below to set up an appointment.
