What is AFUE ?
A higher AFUE number is better. It measures the amount of heat actually delivered to your house compared to the amount of fuel that you must supply to the furnace. Thus, a furnace that has an 80% AFUE rating converts 80% of the fuel that you supply to heat -- the other 20% is lost out of the chimney.Replacing Old Equipment: Why it is important?
A central HVAC system is designed to last 12-18 years, so in some cases savings and reliability are limited due to equipment age. Your HVAC contractor can help you decide when it is time to replace your old equipment with high efficiency equipment before your system breaks down and leaves you in the heat. For more information email us at hvacprogram@sierrapacific.com or call toll free 1-866-588-6363.
