Rates Effective
October 1, 2009
Currently only for southern Nevada Customers, the Time of Use (TOU) rate rewards you for reducing your consumption. The NV Energy Time of Use rate provides you with a choice. Customers who are willing to reduce consumption during periods when the total demand for electricity is highest, (the peak) will save money.
This peak is between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily, June through September, when the weather is hottest and electricity use is greatest.
You can see a break-down of the Time of Use rates in our Business Rate Schedule.
The TOU Rate is structured to mirror our cost of providing electricity to you. For this reason, on the TOU Rate, your costs are higher during the peak period and lower than the standard rate at all other times, called the off peak periods.
Rates are reduced 92% of the time during the year, (for example, winter at all times and "off-peak" times in the summer) and are increased 8% of the time during the summer, "on-peak" period.
Notice: In order to participate in this TOU Rate program, you must allow NV Energy access to your electric meter. Participation, however, is not guaranteed – you must be pre-qualified.
