NV Energy is now accepting applications from Nevada-based nonprofit agencies to fund energy-efficiency retrofit projects to help reduce operational costs from energy consumption.

Examples of effective projects are: Lighting retrofits, installation of lighting controls and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system upgrades, or other measures that reduce electric energy consumption.

To qualify for these grants an agency must be an NV Energy electric customer in good standing, a 501(c)(3) physically located within the company’s service area, and the money must be used to fund energy-efficiency retrofit projects.

At A Glance:

  • Applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applications will be accepted until August 15, 2011.
  • Grants available until funds are exhausted.
  • Projects must be completed by November 15, 2011.
  • You must receive approval for project from NV Energy prior to starting a project to receive Grant Funds.
  • See Detailed Requirements below for additional details.

Detailed Requirements:

Grant applications will be rated and awarded based on electrical energy savings and while funding is available. Southern Nevada service territory non-profit projects must save at least 10,000 kWh in order to qualify for a $5,000 grant. For grants between $5,000 and $10,000, a 50 % matching investment from the nonprofit organization will be required.

Only the NV Energy program manager can approve project funding. Please make sure to get authorization for funding before starting any project if you expect to receive the incentive.
Improvement projects must be completed by November 15, 2011

Agencies will be required to provide a written confirmation upon completion of the funded improvements and a copy of the contractor invoice. Energy experts from the utility company are available to help agencies identify potential energy saving opportunities and cost-effective methods to help reduce their energy costs.  Application letters may be submitted via U.S. Mail, fax, email or hand delivery and the following information is required:
