America's Schools Recycling

The America's Schools Recycling Program, in cooperation with the Nevada Association of School Boards, have formed a partnership with NV Energy to support K-12 educational and extracurricular programs in public schools. By participating in this program, NV Energy will generate additional dollars for school programs such as arts, music, drama, athletics, libraries, computers and other subjects.

The America's Schools Recycling Program is designed to help fund extracurricular activities by partnering with community-minded corporations. Through this program, printer and toner cartridges and/or cell phones are collected and recycled, creating a revenue source for school programs.

"NV Energy is committed to helping our schools flourish, and that includes participating in worthwhile programs such as America's Schools Recycling Program," said Andrea Smith, director of Corporate Communications at NV Energy. "Energizing recycling programs in schools will also help educate the next generation on the environmental importance of recycling."

"(The people at NV Energy ) have long been leaders in community involvement efforts, which lead to positive and lasting results," said Randy Robison, Executive Director, Nevada Association of School Boards. "This new partnership is further evidence of that commitment and provides a unique opportunity for them to again, lead the way in protecting the environment while creating a new revenue source for Nevada's public schools."

A portion of the funds generated by these efforts will benefit NV Energy's focus school, Myrtle Tate Elementary in southern Nevada. The balance of funds will be divided among all other K-12 schools participating in the America's Schools Program.
