Bargaining Unit Local 396 Benefits

Medical/Dental/Vision Plans

Designed to help pay for employees' and dependents' eligible medical, dental and vision expenses. Plan eligibility requires that an employee work at least 31 hours per week. Part-time BU L396 Clerical employees must work a minimum of 20 hours per week but not more than 30 hours per week. Coverage for full-time and part-time employees is effective the first of the month following the employee's date of hire.
There is a choice of three plans:

Basic Life Insurance

Company-paid basic life insurance equal to 1.4 times base pay, with a minimum of $46,000 and a maximum of $1,000,000.

Basic AD&D

Company-paid accidental death and dismemberment equal to 1.4 times base pay, with a minimum of $46,000 and maximum of $1,000,000.

Business Travel Accident Insurance

Company-paid travel accident insurance. Death benefit of $500,000 in the event of accidental death while traveling outside regularly assigned work location on company business.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

First of following month after date of hire, employee is eligible for long-term disability. Premiums are paid by the employee. Employees are eligible for 60% of base pay to a maximum of $10,000/month minus other disability payments they are eligible to receive.

Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

A method for employees to set aside tax-free dollars to reimburse themselves for eligible medical, dental or vision care expenses not covered or fully paid by any insurance plan.

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DFSA)

A method for employees to set aside up to $5,000 per year in tax-free dollars to reimburse themselves for the cost of caring for qualified dependents while the employee and spouse are at work (e.g., child care, elder care).

401(k) plan

In addition to the Retirement Plan, we offer a 401(k) plan. 401(k) is a tax-deferred, long-term savings program which offers an investment program with a substantial tax advantage, NV Energy gives your savings a boost with a 100% matching contribution on the first 6% of pay you contribute.

Supplemental Life Insurance (Optional)

Employee-paid with after-tax dollars. Supplemental Life Insurance is a term life insurance product which gives the employee the opportunity to receive additional insurance protection. Coverage is available in increments of 0.5 up to 5 times your base pay and a maximum of $1,250,000. Employees can also choose coverage for their spouse and dependents.

Vacation

Vacation is accrued bi-weekly and may be used after six months of employment. Vacation is accrued at the following rate:
Probationary and regular employees' vacation will be prorated dependent upon month hired.
2 - 5 years prorated 1st year according to month hired - 80 hours
6 - 12 years of service - 120 hours
13 - 20 years of service - 160 hours
21 - 30 years of service - 200 hours
31 years and above - 240 hours

Sick Leave

Employees accrue sick leave bi-weekly at a rate of 3.70 hours.

Holidays

There are 12 paid holidays per year:

Jury Duty and Serving as a Witness

Employees who serve as jurors or witnesses will be excused from work and receive regular pay for the time served. Employees may keep any jury duty or witness fees.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

A confidential 24-hour service is available to help employees and family members handle difficult situations, such as finances, stress, substance abuse, family relationships, etc.

Military Leave

The company provides military leave of absence with pay (less military wages) for regular and probationary employees for not more than (80) hours per calendar year.

Safety

NV Energy maintains a strong commitment to provide a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. We have a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy.

Workers' Compensation

NV Energy is self-funded under Workers' Compensation. This program provides employees who have a job-related injury or illness with medical care, disability benefits and rehabilitation services.

Retirement Plan

This is a company plan that, together with benefits from Social Security and personal savings, will provide employees' monthly retirement income. It may also be a source of income for an employee's spouse upon death of the employee, either before or after retirement.

Educational Aid

The Educational Aid Program is designed to benefit you and the company by contributing to education costs to help enhance your performance. Under the BU L396 plan, the company pays 100% tuition and lab fees & books at $50 maximum per course. Total aid for full-time employees is $2,000, part-time employees not eligible, bonus award $500. Total aid for full-time BU L396 Designers  is $4,000.

Service Awards

Service recognition awards are given to employees who complete 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of continuous service with the company.

Employee Stock Program

Regular, full-time employees may purchase shares of company stock at a discounted rate through payroll deduction.

Employee Dividend Reinvestment Plan

Employees who are shareholders of NV Energy can choose to have their cash dividends and optional cash payments reinvested in shares of common stock.

Recreation and Leisure Activities

These include discount tickets to various theme parks, annual picnic for employees and retirees and other events.
