Procurement Policy

In support of our vision, NV Energy suppliers will procure quality products and services that satisfy performance requirements. Procurement decisions will be made on the basis of quality, cost, reliability, delivery, field support, safety and other pertinent criteria.

NV Energy suppliers will seek and develop business relationships with suppliers that are capable of satisfying our requirements, financially sound, and committed to continuous improvement and innovation. We welcome supplier recommendations for standardization and alternatives that reduce cost and improve customer satisfaction.

NV Energy suppliers promotes ethical behavior and will ensure that our agents and representatives demonstrate impartiality, fairness, and confidentiality in all transactions.

Insurance Requirements

Listed below is the NV Energy Request For Proposal Insurance clause/requirements for all services and construction. The Professional Liability requirement is only for contracts that require engineering design services. NV Energy reserves the right to have higher limits for specific projects. Please note, SPR stands for Sierra Pacific Resources, the parent company of NV Energy.

(a) During the performance of this contract, the Contractor shall maintain the following insurance:

(1) General Liability Insurance, with a combined single limit of $2,000,000 for each occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate.

(2) Automobile Liability Insurance, with a combined single limit of $1,000,000 for each person and $1,000,000 for each occurrence.

(3) Workers' Compensation Insurance in accordance with statutory requirements.

(4) Professional Liability Insurance, with a limit of $2,000,000 annual aggregate.

(b) Each contract of insurance will be with an insurer approved to do business in the State of Nevada, is A-Rated or better and will include the following provisions or endorsements:

(i) Naming SPR as additional insured on the General Liability and Automobile Liability Insurance policies;

(ii) Stating that the insurance is primary insurance with respect to the interest of NV Energy and that any insurance maintained by SPR is excess and not contributory insurance:

(iii) Providing SPR with waivers of subrogation on all coverages except Professional Liability Insurance;

(iv) Providing for severability of interest and providing cross liability coverage in the General Liability and Automobile Liability Insurance policies, and;

(v) If any policy is maintained on a "claims made" form and is converted to an "occurrence form", the new policy shall be endorsed to provide coverage back to a retroactive date acceptable to SPR.

(c) The above insurance shall not be canceled or expire without at least 30 days prior written notice to SPR.

Standard Payment Terms

Standard payment terms for NV Energy suppliers are net 30 days for all materials and services.
