Winnemucca Mountain
Named for Paiute Chief, Winnemucca, this mountain rises about 4,000 ft. above the valley floor making it the town's most prominent real estate. It was first prized for its treasures of gold, silver, and lead. The mountains greatest, most lasting gift is the annual spring show of wildflowers, the variety rivals anything in the sagebrush steppe, and many people wander along the roads in the springtime to enjoy this experience. Photographers take advantage of the 360-degree view from the top of the mountain for pictures of the Humboldt Black Rock Desert and the sand dunes.
