Energy Saving Tips for Time of Use

TOU North

The NV Energy Time of Use (TOU) rate provides you with a choice. Customers who are willing to use less electricity during periods when the total demand of energy is highest (the peak), will save money by shifting their usage to times with lower rates. Some could even save 15% off their annual electricity bill if they decide to use less electricity during these peak periods (see charts on right for times).

With Time Of Use, lower your peak usage, lower your bill. The peak is between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday, July through September, and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. October thru June, when electricity use is greatest. There is an opportunity for additional savings if customers can also reduce electricity usage during mid-peak hours.

If your time schedule allows you to use most of your energy during off-peak hours during the summer, you could save money.

Benefits of the Time-Of-Use Program:

Notice: In order to participate in this TOU Rate program, you must allow NV Energy access to your electric meter. Participation, however, is not guaranteed – you must be pre-qualified.

Guaranteed Lowest Rate (GLR)*

If after the first 12-month period, we find that you have spent more on the TOU Rate than you would have spent on the standard rate, we will refund the difference and restore you to the standard rate (if you choose). In order to receive the annual savings associated with being on the TOU rate, you are requested to remain on the program for a full 12 months.
