Thank you to all our customers who have participated in the Sure Bet for Hotels and Motels Program since it began in 2007. As a result of your participation the program has achieved its goals.
The program has been marketed to qualifying facilities through many methods. Customers who previously received program information were contacted again in late 2009 to determine their level of interest and it appears at this time that customers who were interested in the program have participated.
The program is scheduled to close on December 31, 2009. Any customer who is interested in participating before the end of 2009, should contact us as soon as possible at (702)-402-2842. The program is voluntary and was available on a first-come first served basis as long as funding is available.
The Hotel Motel program provides small hotels and motels (200 rooms or less) a way to retrofit their facilities with more efficient room energy controls, room lighting, common area lighting and vending machine controls.
Participating is as easy:
- Call the Project office at (702) 402-2842
- Meet with a Project representative who performs a walk-through of your facility and prepares a report of energy use and recommended improvements.
- Review your customized report, choose the items you want installed, and sit back while technologies are installed and savings begin.
Guest Room Energy Management(GREM)
What it is: A system that regulates in-room energy use based on guest occupancy. Guest rooms are comfortable when they need to be and not overheated or cooled while your guests swim, shop or enjoy other hotel amenities.
The room controller contains a radio frequency transmitter that is activated when your guest inserts the room's keycard in the master entry control switch. This activates the entry light and simultaneously signals the room cooling/heating system in to an occupied mode. The guest then has full control of the system. Thirty seconds after the guest removes the key and exits the room, a signal is again transmitted putting the temperature controls in "stand-by" mode. The temperature then returns to and remains at a stand-by temperature setting.
In-Room Lighting
What it is: Replacement of your 60, 75 and 100 watt incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lighting.
What it saves: Room savings vary with equipment, but each CFL typically uses 75% less energy than needed
for an incandescent bulb.
A theft-resistant adapter is included to ensure your lamps stay where they belong. You'll use less energy, have less bulb theft, and your rooms will be well-lit for your guests. In-room bulbs are installed at no charge when you install the GREM system and you can add a motion-sensored bathroom light switch for a small co pay of $10 to $20 per room.
Want to Save Even More?
Common Area Lighting
What it is: High performance T8 fixtures, LED exit sign replacement, or 26 watt CFL hallway fixtures.
What it saves: Savings, of course, depend on equipment being replaced. However, since this lighting is on all day and every day, it makes sense that the savings would be significant. The survey of your property will enable the Project to determine what technologies would best fit your needs and provide you with savings data. Knowing the savings data, you can compare that with the small co-pay of $5 to $12 per fixture cost to know your approximate pay-back.
Vending Machine Controls
What it is: VendingMiser technology conserves energy on your beverage machines but maintains the product's cool temperature.
What it saves: On average, savings of 46% can be obtained per machine.
This technology installs on your existing cold drink vending machines within minutes. An infrared sensor powers down the machine's lighting and non-essential energy use when no one is near the machine.
The sensor monitors the room's temperature and automatically re-powers the cooling system at regular intervals to ensure that the product stays cold. The lights come on again when guests approach the machine.
