Would you like to make your home more comfortable, energy-efficient and receive a cash incentive for doing so? When you replace your Split or Package system (A/C condenser Unit and Gas Furnace) or stand-alone Gas Furnace or Gas Boiler with a more efficient system you can receive a rebate for the gas furnace portion.
Stand-alone gas furnaces require a minimum of 90 AFUE and gas boilers require a minimum of 85 AFUE to qualify for a rebate.
In addition, when you make the switch to a more energy efficient system you may lower your energy bill as much as 11-15 percent. To make life in the northern Nevada more comfortable, most everyone relies on heating to get through the winter. It is this increased use of gas that can cause our bill to reach their highest point for the year.
By making the switch to a high efficiency system, not only will you lower your bill, you'll reduce the demand for the resources needed to generate power, which helps preserve our environment. So when you save, everyone saves.
To get your rebate you must:
-
Ask your preferred HVAC contractor if they are a participant in the Program.
-
All work and equipment purchases must be completed after January 1, 2009.
-
If you don't have a contractor you can locate a participating HVAC contractor by calling (877) 411-TEST (8378) . Please read this disclaimer.
-
The HVAC contractor will perform a diagnostic assessment and estimate on the new equipment.
-
Have all work completed by the participating HVAC contractor.
-
All necessary paperwork will be electronically submitted for you by the participating HVAC contractor.
-
Retain a copy of the invoice and the Third Party Quality Control form from the HVAC contractor for auditing purposes.
-
Rebates will be mailed within 30 days from when we receive the electronic filing.
To qualify for Rebates:
-
Customer must have an active gas meter in Neveada, which is serviced by NV Energy.
-
Customer must meet the minimum efficiencies in AFUE when replacing a stand-alone furnace or gas boiler.
-
Rebates are to promote energy efficiency and conservation and are not intended to cover the complete cost of equipment or services.
The rebates are :

What is AFUE ?
A higher AFUE number is better. It measures the amount of heat actually delivered to your house compared to the amount of fuel that you must supply to the furnace. Thus, a furnace that has an 80% AFUE rating converts 80% of the fuel that you supply to heat -- the other 20% is lost out of the chimney.Replacing Old Equipment: Why it is important?
A central HVAC system is designed to last 12-18 years, so in some cases savings and reliability are limited due to equipment age. Your HVAC contractor can help you decide when it is time to replace your old equipment with high efficiency equipment before your system breaks down and leaves you in the heat. For more information email us at hvacprogram@sierrapacific.com or call toll free 1-866-588-6363.
