NMR-B

NMR-B Overview

This is the default net metering rate for newly installed a rooftop solar system that generate more than 25 kilowatts and less than 1,000 kilowatts of electricity.

NMR-B customers receive a kilowatt-hour credit for excess energy. Here’s how it works:

  • The energy your system produces is netted against the energy delivered to you by NV Energy. Any extra energy produced is banked for use as a credit on future bills.
  • The credit is 1:1, meaning you are credited one kWh for every excess kWh.
  • Remaining, or banked, credits will be applied to any energy delivered by NV Energy on future bills.
  • Banked credits at the end of the year are carried over to future bills.
  • If you transfer service to another location or end service with NV Energy, banked credits are non-transferrable and non-payable.

Here is an example of billing for NMR-B customers (amounts are for demonstration purposes):

Example 1:

Energy we
deliver to you
100 kWh
Energy you export
to the grid
30 kWh
Energy billed at
consumption rate
70 kWh
Excess Energy Credit
calculation
30 kWh (exported)
- 100 kWh (delivered)
< 0 kWh
Excess Energy CreditNone, because we delivered
more energy than you exported

Example 2:

Energy we
deliver to you
30 kWh
Energy you export
to the grid
100 kWh
Energy billed at
consumption rate
0 kWh
Excess Energy Credit
calculation
100 kWh (exported)
-30 kWh (delivered)
Excess Energy Credit70 kWh (for future use)

Current Rates

NMR-B customers are billed the same as non-net metering customers, but receive a banking credit (in kWh) for the extra energy they produce and send back to the grid (e.g. example 2 above).

Select one of the following rate types you may enroll in for details on energy consumption rates used when your net metering system produces less energy than what you consume (e.g. example 1 above):
