Sierra Connectors

Sierra Connectors

Popular "Connector" events include the Food Bank (sorting food), Sagewind, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Adopt-A-Park, Champions of the River, The Salvation Army Silver Angel Tree, assisting with blood drives, and various marketing events.

Once an employee retires from in northern Nevada, they have the privilege of becoming a Sierra Connector. Sierra Connectors get involved in various volunteer events throughout the year, some with employees and some on their own. Although, every retiree is a Connector, hundreds of retirees actively volunteer together and on their own. The group has a board of directors that meets once a month to review upcoming events, issues, etc. Each board member collectively decides on events to be involved in as well as designates persons to lead those events. They continually look for new ways to involve fellow retirees while helping the community and promoting camaraderie with one other.

There is an informative and fun newsletter that is written and designed by the board of directors and mailed out quarterly to all retirees of NV Energy (formerly Sierra Pacific Power Company). This is a way for everybody to stay in touch while keeping all retirees informed of new events, ideas, and changes going on within the company.

Our retiree group continues to grow with close to 1,000 active retirees to date.
