2016 Open Resource - Request for Proposals

General Information

NV Energy has announced that it is seeking proposals to secure 400 to 700 megawatts of long-term firm capacity and energy resources for its customers, beginning in 2018. The resource need listed in this request for proposals is for summer peak planning capacity. This solicitation is open to both conventional and renewable energy resources and can include an asset acquisition, power purchase agreement, tolling agreement or a toll with a purchase option for a minimum of 10 years.

Steps to Complete


The schedule for the 2016 Open Resource RFP is as follows and is subject to change:

  • February 24, 2016 - Issue 2016 RFP
  • March 17, 2016 - Bids due
  • April 29, 2016 - Final Short List determined
  • May 2, 2016 - Bidder negotiations begin
  • July 1, 2016 - PUCN approval filing
  • December 2016 - Anticipated time of PUCN approval
