Beware of Scams

Scammers sometimes target energy customers, attempting to steal their money by posing as NV Energy employees and threatening immediate service disconnection. Keep the following in mind to avoid becoming the victim of a scam.

NV Energy WILL:

  • Issue 10-day and 48-hour notices via U.S. Mail to customers at risk of having their power disconnected because of nonpayment.
  • Provide some customers with a courtesy call that contains a recorded message to call NV Energy Customer Service at either (702) 402-5555 or (775) 834-4444, depending on the service area. This message makes no mention of balances and/or pending terminations, and payment over the phone is never requested.

NV Energy WILL NOT:

  • Call or visit your home or business to collect payment and/or threaten immediate service disconnection.
  • Use threatening or aggressive tactics to collect payment.
  • Demand immediate payment by credit card, prepaid debit card, or cash transfer to avoid service interruption.

If you are contacted for immediate payment or think you have been the victim of a scam:

  • Do not provide any personal information to the caller.
  • Immediately hang up the phone.
  • Call law enforcement, or NV Energy Customer Service at (702) 402-5555 or (775) 834-4444.
