ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Hydro-power is based on simple concepts. Moving water turns a turbine, the turbine spins a generator, and electricity is produced. NV Energy's HydroGenerations incentive program offers incentive to agriculture and Tribal customers to help offset the costs to install micro-hydro systems. Now customers can take advantage of running water on their property to help lower their monthly power bills.

How do micro-hydro systems work?

Hydro-power plants capture the energy of falling water to generate electricity. Moving water turns a turbine. The turbine spins a generator. The spinning generator creates electricity. Systems with steady flows of water can produce energy day and night, making hydro energy one of the most efficient forms of generation.

Benefits of hydro energy

  • Hydro power is an efficient and reliable energy source because it is predictable and based on the water source, available on demand.
  • Hydro is one of the cleanest forms of energy because it does not require the burning of fossil fuels and does not pollute the atmosphere.
  • Energy generated by a hydro system can be used to offset your energy use, resulting in lower monthly power bills.
